[Watch] Babushaan Plays Down Assault By Wife As ‘Misunderstanding’

Bhubaneswar: After his wife assaulted him and actress Prakruti Mishra in full public glare in Odisha’s capital on Saturday, Ollywood superstar Babushaan said that Prakruti was a “very good friend” and what his wife did was not right.

“We were on our way to Chennai to promote a film, in which Prakruti is my co-star, and announce a new project. Prakruti is a very good friend of mine since childhood and I had gone to pick her up. My wife suddenly came, attacked and harassed Prakruti… even my father-in-law was there…what happened is not right.”

“She is a very good friend….what is the harm if I talk to her?” He added, “I am in a state of shock….I don’t want to discuss much about it.”

He said his wife and his father-in-law “harassed” Prakruti which was not right at all.

He further said he would not file any complaint against his wife.

“She doesn’t belong to the film industry and I can understand she might have misunderstood me. But one needs to appreciate that I am an actor and I have work with actresses and also interact with them,” he said.

He further told a private news channel that his fans know everything about him and would certainly understand that it is a case of his wife misunderstanding him. “Which is why I maintained absolute calm. It was my wife who beat me and Prakruti but I knew she has got me wrong and hence I was quiet.”

 

Babushaan’s wife is seen in the videos that have gone viral on social media stopping a vehicle in which her husband is in the driver’s seat while Prakruti is seen sitting beside him.

Babushaan’s wife Trupti is seen in an agitated state, roughing up the actor and the actress, pulling Prakruti’s hair and even chasing her. Pakruti is seen stepping out of the SUV and moving around the road, folding her hands and trying to possibly hire an autorickshaw. Though the reasons behind this incident is not clear, it is being discussed in different circles that Babushaan is having domestic issues which played out in public. No police complaint has been filed by anyone.

Trupti is heard accusing Prakruti of “destroying her family life” and “trying to snatch away her husband”. Prakruti is heard saying, “She (Trupti) has gone mad.”

Babushaan, the son of Ollywood’s star couple Uttam Mohanty and Aparajita, married his childhood friend and longtime girlfriend Trupti Satpathy in 2014. Babushaan has acted in around 40 movies and given Ollywood some big hits. He is also a producer and playback singer.

Babushaan and Trupti have a son.
