Balasore: A 140 ft long boita (boat) was set afloat to the beats of drums and the sound of conch blowing loud at Manitri village in Balasore district to commemoration Odisha’s maritime glory on Tuesday.
The colossal eco-friendly boat was made by members of Madan Mohan Jubak Sangha of the village using thermocol, bamboo, paper and cloth and other decorative material to perform the ‘Raas Purnima’ rituals.
Hundreds of people thronged to the village from nearby places to revel in the Kartika Purnima festivities, which included the gigantic boat.
