Jajpur: A passenger bus overturned near Sahapur on National Highway 16 under Panikoili police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district late on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accident occurred when the driver of the bus en route to Bhubaneswar from Mayurbhanj lost its balance over the wheels and skidded off the road after hitting a divider.
Around 40 passengers sustained injuries and six among them are stated to be critical.
On being informed, the local police arrived at the spot and rescued the six critically injured passengers, including five males and a female, and admitted them to the district headquarters hospital by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) ambulance for immediate medical treatment.
Other passengers were shifted to another bus after first-aid and it left for its destination, the sources added.
