[Watch] Bhubaneswar DCP On Plus II Student ‘Thrashing’ Incident At BJB Junior College

Bhubaneswar: There is no indication so far that the alleged thrashing of a Plus II first-year student of the Science stream by three seniors at BJB Junior College here was an incident of planned ragging, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media on Wednesday.

“Three days back, the accused, who are Plus II 2nd year students of the Arts stream, stopped the victim while the latter was going to class with a female friend and asked him to stay away from her. Following this, he complained to some Plus III students whom he knew. The Plus III students then warned the accused against threatening him. This irked them, leading to the fight,” he said.

A case has been registered and an investigation is in progress, he added.

A video of the thrashing incident had gone viral and the accused were seen mercilessly beating the boy on the campus. He had to be taken to Capital Hospital in critical condition.

The victim’s parents later filed a complaint against the accused at Badagada police station.
