New York: US President Joe Biden forgot to introduce Prime Minister Narendra Modi on stage at an event of Quad leaders on Sunday morning at Delaware. This was another forgetful episode.
At the event, Biden—who shared the stage with Quad leaders—PM Modi, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Japan’s Fumio Kishida launched an initiative to reduce the burden of cancer in the Indo-Pacific region.
While speaking about the Cancer Moonshot initiative, Biden was supposed to introduce Modi. But, the US President looked visibly confused and fumbled.
“Who am I introducing next?” he asked. The moderator of the event then came to his rescue and announced Prime Minister Modi’s name.
In the past, Biden has had incidents of freezing up during public events. He was found stumbling on his words on multiple occasions. This has raised concerns over the 81-year-old’s mental condition.
Biden attended a Nato summit in Washington in July and there he accidentally referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Biden had also fumbled and stammered during the first presidential debate with Donald Trump this year. The debate raised serious doubts as to whether he would be able to run for a re-election. He was eventually forced to withdraw from the poll fray.
