Bhubaneswar: A gang of robbers, suspected to be belonging to Bihar, looted jewellery worth more than Rs 15 lakh from a house in Bhubaneswar.
According to police sources, the gang of 5-6 persons entered the house of Gayatri Panda in Nuagaon under Dhauli police limits by breaking open the front iron grill gate late Friday night to commit the crime. They told her hand over all the valuables and cash, threatening her of dire consequences, if she failed to meet their demand or raised her voice for help.
An extremely frightened Gayatri gave them all her jewellery including 3 gold chains, 6 ear rings, 5 rings, and two bangles worth more then Rs 15 lakh. The gang also took away whatever cash they found in the house.

Gayatri said she could not see the faces of the looters as they had covered those with towels. Besides, they were speaking to her in Bihari Hindi, she added.
On being informed, police along with forensic team went to the house and started investigation. They have also taken the video footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the area. Though the footage reveals movement of the alleged looters, they could not be identified as their faces were covered.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said they were trying to identify the miscreants and have launched a manhunt to nab them.
