[Watch]: Bizarre Scene As Batsman Gets Run Out Twice In One Ball In BBL!

Sydney: What happened in the Big Bash League (BBL) match between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder on Sunday can best be described as bizarre.

In the 10th over of the Adelaide Strikers innings, opener Jake Weatherald was run out twice in one ball – at the non-striker’s end first and then at the batting end.

Philip Salt, who was on strike, pushed a ball from pacer Chris Green straight down the wicket. The ball clipped the stumps after touching the bowler’s hand.

As the fielding side appealed for a run out, Salt called his partner for a single. Weatherald was late in responding as he rushed to make his ground at the other end.

Replays showed that Weatherald was short of his crease at both ends, and the first run out counted.

The commentators, all former international cricketers, couldn’t believe what they were seeing, with Brendon Julian describing it as terrible running.

“I’ve never ever seen that before,” remarked former Australia batsman Mark Waugh.

“No, that is a first for sure. We thought it was tight at the bowler’s end but he was certainly out twice,” said Adelaide coach and former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie.

“I’ve never seen anyone run out twice,” former Australia pacer Brett Lee added on commentary.
