Bhubaneswar: Congress will emerge as the only alternative in next General Elections in Odisha as the people want a change from the misrule of BJP at the Centre and BJD in the state, said OPCC president Sarat Patnaik on Friday.
Speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik said the BJP and BJD have internal understanding with each other but behaving like opposition in the public to hoodwink the people. “The two parties are like two sides of a coin. They are working in mutual consultation,” he added.
Stating that the people of Odisha were fed up with both parties, Patnaik said they have realised their double standards and would vote them out of power in next elections when the Congress will emerge as a strong alternative.

On the party president elections, Patnaik said it will be announced by the central leaders. On the candidates for the post, he said the party would announce it after the nominations are filed.
On the Vigilance court’s jail sentence to Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim in a 22-year-old loan fraud case, Patnaik denied to comment anything on the ground that the case was sub judice. “It is upto him whether he will go to higher court or not. So far as party action is concerned, it is an internal matter and we will take decision through due process,” he added.
