Rourkela: Construction work for the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium here is on in full swing.
Touted to be the country’s largest hockey stadium with a capacity of 20,000 spectators, will co-host the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 along with Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Construction of the iconic stadium started last June, after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone at Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) campus in February 2021.
Odisha Sports posted on its Twitter handle a video showing how the stadium is shaping up.
Watch the video:
The stadium is being built on 15-20 acres of land.
Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, after inspecting construction work, had said the stadium is expected to be completed by July 2022.
