Bhubaneswar: The office of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi at Palaspalli here has been sealed for 15 days for COVID-19 norms violation.
The MP was earlier accused of flouting the safety guidelines after a video of her birthday bash at the office on October 8 went viral. The video showed the Bhubaneswar MP surrounded by a large number of women, who were not wearing face masks or maintaining social distance. Sarangi was also seen without a mask at the event.
According to sources, a team led by Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner (BMC) zonal deputy commissioner Rabinarayan Jethy along with police reached her office to carry out the order on Saturday.
The BMC notice said the premises will be sealed for 15 days and sanitised during the period. Those who had attended the bash will also undergo COVID-19 test.
Meanwhile, COVID warriors have also written to Bhubaneswar DCP, demanding action against the MP for the offence.
