Mumbai: After months of pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar and Europe, the big day arrived for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant on Friday, as the long-time sweethearts became man and wife.
Intermittent rains in Mumbai were no dampner as the biggest names in Bollywood, Indian sports, global celebrities from different fields like politics, tech, reality shows descended at the Jio World Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex here to witness the ‘shaadi of the year’.
Akshay Kumar, one of Bollywood’s superstars, skipped the wedding after contracting COVID-19 while travelling for the promotions of his latest release ‘Sarfira’.
Anant Ambani, the groom is the younger son of Reliance Industries chairperson Mukesh and Nita Ambani, while Radhika is the daughter of businessman Viren and Shaila Merchant.
The ‘baaratis’ left the gorgeously decorated and lit up Antilia just before 5 pm to the dancing and singing of guests and family members.
Papparazzis had to work overtime as dozens of celebrity guests started reaching the venue from just before 5 pm.
