Bhubaneswar: Chandbali BJD MLA Byomakesh Ray has allegedly been caught on camera breaching COVID measures during his wedding at a hotel in Chilika on Friday.
In a video from the marriage ceremony that has gone viral, the MLA can be seen dancing with a group of people in close proximity. None of them is wearing a mask.
While announcing the unlock measures on June 30, the Odisha government had warned people against lowering the guard amid the declining COVID cases. Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra had requested all to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and avoid going outside unless there is an emergency.
The number of guests at a wedding has been capped at 25. The hosts are also not allowed to organise any community feast and are instead asked to give food packets to the guests.
Ray tied the nuptial knot with Tadasha Saidarshini Bal of Ghatapur village under Chandbali block of Bhadrak district. From the video, it appears to be an elaborate affair.
