New Delhi: Disgruntled over the customer support for his newly purchased electric vehicle, a man who bought an Ola electric scooter in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi set a showroom on fire.
The 26-year-old man, Mohammad Nadeem, had a heated altercation with the customer support executives at the showroom on Tuesday and set the showroom ablaze after pouring petrol, according to police. Six vehicles and the computer systems were gutted in the fire, India Today reported.
Nadeem, a mechanic by profession, had purchased the e-scooter a month ago for Rs 1.4 lakh. However, just 1-2 days after the purchase, the vehicle began experiencing technical issues with the battery and sound system. He repeatedly visited the showroom to have his vehicle repaired, but according to him, they were not addressing his grievances properly, according to the report.
The entire showroom was destroyed in the fire, with visuals showing thick smoke emanating from the shop. The estimated loss from the incident is Rs 8.5 lakh. A case has been registered, and the police have arrested the accused.
