Bhubaneswar: A woman and her sister were found murdered inside their house at Chandrasekharpur Housing Board Colony in Odisha’s capital on Sunday morning.
Police said the murders took place on April 21. The sisters were identified as Gayatri Sethi and Saraswati Sethi. Gayatri’s husband Bijay Sethi is suspected to have killed them. He has been detained.
After the murders, Bijay allegedly left the bodies inside the house (EWS 23/2) and locked it. The couple was living on rent. Saraswati, a nurse at a city hospital, used to visit them.
Police reached the house on Sunday morning and recovered the bodies after neighbours complained of foul smell coming from the quarter.
Gayatri’s mother Kuni Sethi alleged that Bijay threatened to kill her daughter several times in the past. “My son-in-law killed my two daughters. He had been threatening to kill Gayatri,” she said.
Police said the sisters’ family members were not being able to contact them since Thursday as their phones were switched off. A complaint was lodged at Infocity police station on April 23. Bijay and Gayatri had married in 2011.
