New Delhi: A mother will do anything to protect her offspring, whatever be the odds.
That’s the universal truth for all species and creatures.
The power of the mother and its love for the baby was beautifully illustrated in recent incident involving an elephant.
The video, shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda, shows a fierce face-off between the jumbo and a crocodile, which had its eyes on the baby elephant.
Susanta Nanda shared the video and wrote, “The extent to which elephants can go in protecting their calves is mind-boggling. Here is a small incident. The Crocodile had to surrender.”
In the video, a baby elephant can be seen taking a dip in a small water body. The mother elephant can be seen standing next to its baby and watching over it.
As the huge crocodile emerges from under the water to pounce on the calf, the infuriated mother lets out a cry of defiance and fights off the reptile. The crocodile ultimately had to surrenders and move away.

Netizens marvelled at the mother’s fight.
“The crocodile never had a chance. Wonderful,” wrote one user.
“Classic case of trying to bite more than you can chew,” responded another user.
“The crocodile just got saved else would have all his inside coming out soon,” said a third person.
