Bhubaneswar: First Kapil Sharma’s ‘Zwigato’ and now ‘Pushpa-2’, is Odisha becoming the favourite of filmmakers for shooting locales? Well, going by the latest news, it certainly seems so. The confirmation of Allu Arjun’s superhit ‘Pushpa-2’ being shot in Odisha is already giving fans goosebumps!
It is indeed true that a part of the sequel of ‘Pushpa-1’ is being shot in Swabhiman Anchal, the 372 sq km area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district that was once a hotbed of Maoist violence between 2008 and 2021, witnessing the killing of 101 civilians and 77 security personnel.
Locals couldn’t believe their eyes when they recently saw Allu Arjun dressed in shorts and a black shirt. Pictures of him in areas along Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are already flooding social media.
The shooting has begun near Tarbuj waterfall, about 2 km from Malkangiri, in the neighbouring state and the team will cross border to Odisha next month, sources said.
Hantalguda, Saptadhara and Jhulapola have been finalised for the filming of Pushpa-2 in Odisha after the senior production team comprising the fight master, associate director and art director did a recce of the terrain of Swabhiman Anchal, confirmed P Venkateswara Rao, production manager, Mythri Movie Makers.
The makers were scouting for a location where the lorry is seen chasing a jeep which they found in Hantalguda, the sources added.
The shooting will be done with the help of drone cameras, for which permission has already been taken from the Malkangiri district collector and superintendent of police. The Border Security Force (BSF) has also agreed to cooperate.
Allu Arjun already enjoys a huge fan base in Odisha and now that ‘Pushpa-2’ is being shot on their home terrain, their excitement and love for the Telugu superstar know no bounds. Even though the movie is still in its nascent stage, already declaring ‘Pushpa-2’ a hit in Odisha would not be an understatement.
