Baripada: In an exciting news for wildlife enthusiasts, a fight between two tigers has been caught on camera in the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The STR has shared the image on its official X handle. The news has brought cheers among the wildlife lovers across the state after concerns were expressed by many over safety of tigers in Similipal. Wildlife lovers were worried amid reports about decreasing population of tigers.
“He is T35 a young tiger trying to claim territory. Got into a fight with T31. Seems to be victorious as it confidently patrols its area. Have you marked the dark pattern on forehead?,” STR posted on its official X handle.
Forest department officials said they were able to notice the fight between the two big cats for a week from November 9 and the image has been shared to create awareness about the Royal Bengal Tigers (RBTs) in Similipal.
Expressing happiness over the pictures getting captured, wildlife experts said that the number of RBTs in Similipal could be more than estimated earlier.
