Valsad: A fire broke out in the Shri Ganganagar Humsafar Express on Saturday afternoon shortly after the train left Valsad station in Gujarat.
Fire and smoke was first noticed around 2 pm in the power car/brake van coach of the 22498 Tiruchirappalli-Shri Ganganagar express train. The fire rapidly spread to an adjoining passenger coach.

As panic spread among passengers, the train was brought to a halt and everyone was deboarded safely, Western Railway CPRO Sumit Thakur said.
No casualty was reported.
The affected coaches were detached from the train before it resumed its journey, added Thakur.
According to Valsad SP Karanraj Vaghela, the fire was most probably caused by a short circuit in the power coach, and spread to the adjoining B1 coach. He added that the fire has been brought under control.
