Bhubaneswar: With the flood situation worsening, Odisha Fire Service Response Teams have been at the forefront of rescue efforts.
So far, Fire Service Teams have rescued 667 people from various districts. The rescue of four passengers whose car was swept away and got submerged in floodwaters in Cuttack on Monday night has earned them all-round praise. On Tuesday, Fire Service Teams also rescued a marooned girl in Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district.
A total of 44 Odisha Fire Service Response Teams have been deployed in the coastal as well as affected districts for rescue efforts. Besides rescuing people, they are also actively involved in clearing roads blocked by uprooted trees, rescuing cattle and animals trapped in floodwaters.
Odisha Fire Service DG Santosh Kumar Upadhyay on Tuesday reviewed the deployment of fire service teams in various parts of the state through video-conferencing. The meeting was attended by Soumya Mishra, Additional DG, Fire Service; Chief Fire Officer D K Swain, fire officers, deputy fire officers and assistant fire officers.
Upadhyay praised the Fire Service personnel who rescued four passengers of a car that got submerged in floodwaters in Cuttack. The car got submerged on an inundated Cuttack-Sambalpur Road on Monday night. Upadhyay announced that all the four firemen involved in the operation will be awarded.
