Mumbai: Irrfan Khan’s son Babil is all set for his acting debut in ‘Qala’, whose first-look teaser was released on Saturday.
Directed by Anvitaa Dutt and financed by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh’s Clean Slate Filmz, the Netflix film stars Tripti Dimri and Swastika Mukherjee in key roles.
The plot has been kept under wraps for the time being, though the film has described as a “beautiful, heart-breaking story about a daughter who craves her mother’s love.”
The teaser reveals a stunning location and backdrop, which is sure to whet the audience’s appetite. The director, actors and the crew are shown using traditional cameras and drones.
Babil shared on Instagram that he had wrapped up the first schedule of his debut movie.
He shared another post, where he was all praise for co-star Tripti, along with the first-look teaser of ‘Qala’.
Anvita had also directed horror-thriller Bulbbul – which too was bankrolled by Anushka’s company — for Netflix.
“With Bulbbul, we found imaginative creative partners in Clean Slate Filmz to bring to life the stunning vision of Anvitaa Dutt. We are thrilled to reunite with them for Qala, and once again tell an intricate tale of a woman that we hope will resonate with many. We are also excited that the incredibly talented Tripti Dimri will be back on Netflix, this time with the promising Babil I. Khan, the newest addition to the growing Netflix family,” said Srishti Behl Arya, Director, International Original Film, Netflix India.
