Bhubaneswar: Another trick of ganja smugglers to hoodwink police in transporting the contraband was foiled by Special Task Force (STF) in Odisha capital on Wednesday.
According to an STF release, during checking at Gohira Chhack in Bhubaneswar, an STF team stopped a container truck carrying different snacks items. On searching the vehicle, the police found a secret chamber inside it. There were 20 bags packed with ganja in the secret chamber.
The STF team seized the ganja weighing around 8 quintal and arrested the driver and helper of the truck. They were transporting the narcotics from Visakhapatnam to New Delhi, the sources said.
On June 3, the STF team had found more than 10 quintal of ganja being smuggled in a secret chamber in a vehicle meant to transport tar at Tomando square in Bhubaneswar.
The Odisha STF has seized around 121 quintals of ganja in its special drive in the state since 2020. It has also recovered more than 50 kg of brown sugar and arrested 150 narcotic smugglers and peddlers.
