Srinagar: At least two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, according to reports. They were killed in an encounter that broke out near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of the south Kashmir district.
Of the two terrorists killed, one was a foreigner and the other a local, reported the Hindustan Times. Their group affiliation was yet to be ascertained, reported the PTI citing officials. Till the last reports came in, the encounter was still underway.
Meanwhile, visuals of another encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists on the same day in the Khanyar area of Srinagar showed thick smoke emanating from the site.
Based on the inputs claiming the presence of militants in the area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon a search party of the forces, an India Today report claimed quoting the security forces.
The exchange of firing is underway, but there have been no reports of any casualty on either side.
