[Watch] Huge Quantity Of Illegal Liquor Seized, Structures Razed In Massive Police Raids In Bhubaneswar’s Salia Sahi Slums

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday carried out massive raids in Bhubaneswar’s Salia Sahi slums, destroying scores of structures where country liquor was being prepared. Massive quantities of illegal liquor and rice beer were seized during the raids, which were destroyed.

A special squad led by Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh carried out the raids. Police said the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) would be asked to demolish the huts in Salia Sahi slums where liquor was being prepared illegally and other illegal activities were being carried out.

Police said similar raids will be carried out in other areas of Bhubaneswar ahead of the festive season.

Singh told mediapersons that liquor was being prepared illegally in massive quantities with an eye on the festive season ahead. “We are working to ensure hassle-free Durga Puja celebrations in the city,” he said.

On Monday, the Commissionerate Police issued a helpline number for the citizens of Bhubaneswar to crack down on extortion (Daadaabati) by criminals.

The DCP asked people of the twin cities to send a WhatsApp text on ‘7077798111’. “If anybody falls prey to ‘DAADAABATI’ by any antisocial or any information relating to drugs & street crime in Bhubaneswar city, Please share information on our Street Crime WhatsApp no.- 7077798111.@cpbbsrctc @odisha_police,” the DCP tweeted.
