New Delhi: Russia extended Narendra Modi a hearty welcome on Monday evening as the Indian Prime Minister arrived in Moscow on a two-day official trip.
In a fine tribute to its long-standing ally, Moscow’s iconic Ostankino Tower lit up in the Indian tricolour.

At 540 metres (1,772 feet), Ostankino Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in Europe and 12th tallest in the world.
Used as television and radio tower, it was built to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1917 October Revolution.
“Landed in Moscow. Looking forward to further deepening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between our nations, especially in futuristic areas of cooperation. Stronger ties between our nations will greatly benefit our people,” Modi tweeted.
He also thanked the Indian community for their affection shown in giving him a “memorable welcome in Moscow”.
This is Modi’s first visit to Russia in nearly five years.
He will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and hold talks with him over a range of issues.
