Pune: A 26-year-old man was arrested by Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Sunday night for charging into the MCA Stadium during the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
A video clip, shared on social media, shows the man reach the middle of the ground unchallenged. His ‘targets’ were former India captain Virat Kohli and current Team India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma.
He first greeted Kohli, who was batting, and then moved towards Rohit Sharma, who was fielding on the off side.
Watch the video tweeted by Vineet Sharma:
Identified as Dashrath Jadhav from Satara district, an FIR has been registered against him under sections 447 (criminal trespass) and 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of IPC, a police officer said.
“Despite repeated warnings, the man entered the ground by jumping over the fence. He initially gave a fist bump to Virat Kohli and then ran towards Rohit Sharma. He was subsequently detained by the policemen on duty. When he was being escorted out of the ground, he manhandled the cops and created ruckus,” Assistant Inspector Durganath Sali said.
