Puri: Even as Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with air strikes on military bases and key installations, killing dozens and forcing hundreds to flee for their lives on Thursday, three Iskcon devotees from Russia offered prayer in front of Jagannath temple, here, for end of the wat and restoration of peace.
The Russian devotees were on a visit to the pilgrim town to offer prayer and puja to Lord Jagannath temple from outside before their country declared war on Ukraine. After the news of the war was flashed by the media, the three devotees including a woman, went to Singhadwar (Lions’ Gate) and sat there to pray to the Lord to end the Russian invasion and restore peace in Ukraine.

Though the locals could not understand their language clearly, members of Srijagannath Sena welcomed them to the holy town by presenting flowers to them. After their interaction with the Russian devotees, Sena members told the media that they opposed the war and wanted peace for the mankind.
The devotees said they would continue to pray to Lord Jagannath to save the people of Ukraine from the scourge of war. Later, the devotees had Mahaprasad from the temple sitting on the road near Mangu Mutt in the town.
