Raipur: In a major operation, security forces eliminated at least 10 Maoists in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Friday.
The encounter took place in the jungles of Korajuguda, Dantewada, Nagaram, and Bhandarpadar of Sukma district, police informed.
Several weapons, including AK-47, INSAS and SLR rifles have been recovered even as a search operation is still underway.
So delighted they were with the successful encounter, DRG jawans celebrated by dancing as they held their weapons.

A team comprising of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel tasked with the job of hinting down the Maoists after the forces received intelligence about presence of Maoists in the area.
“On 22nd November, the DRGM-CRPF was dispatched to the Bandar, Padar, and Kanaguda areas of Tanah Beji district, Sukma. Since 10 am, the DRGM-CRPF team encountered Naxals multiple times. After the encounters, 10 dead bodies of Naxals were recovered from the area. The Naxals were equipped with AK-47s, INSAS rifles, SLRs, automatic and semi-automatic weapons, and other arms. Search operations are still ongoing in the area. More information will be provided after the search is completed,” Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sunderaj P said.
