Bhubaneswar: A day after detection of COVID-19 cluster at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB), Bhubaneswar Municipal Commission (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Tuesday said that they had received the results of 201 of 204 swab samples sent for tests.
“It’s good news that the result of 201 samples collected from XIMB was found to be negative. The results of three other samples are awaited,” he said.

The commissioner said that BMC squads have been assigned the task to conduct random checking and testing at all educational institutions and hostels in the city.
“More people have been pressed into surveillance and testing duty at the railway stations. Police have been deployed to manage the crowd,” he added.

He further said that there will be surprise raids on busy market places and thoroughfare in the city from this evening to check whether people are adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour.
Refusing to comment on possible night curfew in view of the rising cases, Chaudhary said that the focus is on the enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines and testing.
