Bhubaneswar: No weekend shutdowns or night curfew is being contemplated for the Odisha capital, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary informed on Thursday.
The city has been reporting over 100 new COVID-19 cases for the past two days. While night curfew has been imposed in 10 districts, bordering Chhattisgarh, since Monday no such announcement has been made for Khurda or Bhubaneswar despite a spike in cases.

Speaking to the media, the commissioner said BMC and BDA offices have been closed for the public as these places have the potential for the community transmission of the infection.
“People can lodge their grievances on BMC’s unified portal Bhubaneswar.me and BDA & Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd’s citizenservices.bhubaneswar.me. Helpline numbers have also been released,” he said.
Following the detection of clusters in residential colleges, the authorities have been asked to vacate the hostels of boarders, who have completed their examinations.
“The students who are due for examination will be asked to vacate the hostel premises as soon as their examination schedule is over,” he added.
Chaudhry said that enforcement of COVID-19 norms has been intensified in the city. “Squads are visiting crowded markets and shopping malls to ensure that the safety protocols are being strictly followed,” he said.
A technical college and two convention halls were sealed on Wednesday.
