Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident reminding of what had happened in Lakhimpur Kheri, the vehicle of Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev on Saturday ploughed into a crowd near Banpur block office in Odisha’s Khurda district, where elections to block chairman post was to be held.
A total of 22 people, including 7 police personnel, were injured. This infuriated the people there who then assaulted the legislator, sources said
The MLA, who sustained critical injuries, was first treated at Tangi hospital and later shifted to Bhubaneswar, Khurda SP Alekh Chandra Pahi told the media.
“There is no report of any casualty yet. The investigation has begun and appropriate action will be taken,” he added.
Notably, Jagdev was suspended from BJD in October last year for allegedly assaulting a local BJP leader. He was also removed from the post of chairperson of Khurda district planning committee.
