Keonjhar: A leopard has been sighted roaming in Panchu Palli area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district, triggering panic among the residents of villages nearby.
The leopard was reportedly spotted moving around the area located in Anandpur of Keonjhar wildlife division. The wild animal was seen moving in the paddy field and video of its movement has also gone viral, sparking fear among locals.
However, senior forest department officials have asked people not to panic. PCCF Susanta Nanda said in a tweet that a leopard has been spotted in Panchu Palli and now it has moved towards Hadagarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
Describing it as a normal incident, he urged the public not to panic. Forest department personnel are at the spot keeping a vigil and the big cat is expected to return to the forest soon. Locals were urged not to try to chase it away on their own.
