New Delhi: Bollywood has given us evergreen songs for every occasion and festival. They are belted out every year, while new ones keep adding up. Whether it is songs of national fervour, those for Holi, Diwali and Karva Chauth, Bollywood has churned them out all. Chaitra Navratri, being celebrated since yesterday is no exception.
One of the most popular Mata Rani songs in this list is Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hai, Mata Ne Bulaya Hai from the 1983 Rajesh Khanna-Shabana Azmi starrer ‘Avtaar’, which was released on March 11 ahead of Chaitra Navratri that year.
In an era of action films, Avtaar resurrected family films and made Rajesh Khanna a popular star once again. Along with it, singer Narendra Chanchal also rose to prominence.
Then there was Naam re sab see bada tera naam o sheronwali unche deronwali… from the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha starrer Suhag. The song was sung by Mohammad Rafi and Asha Bhonsle.
Sonu Nigam also sang Maa sheranwaliye… in Khiladiyon Ke Khiladi starring Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon and Rekha.
