Cuttack: A major fire broke out in Bhartia Tower, a major commercial complex in Odisha’s Cuttack city, on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the local people saw thick smoke billowing out of the fifth floor of Bhartia Tower at Badambadi in the city and informed the Fire Brigade. Even as the Fire personnel could arrive at the spot, the fire had engulfed most parts of the floor.
Luckily, the security guard of the complex and his family, who stay in the fifth floor, managed to escape from the fire. While no casualty was reported, properties including office furniture, gadgets and electronic items were gutted.

The estimate of damaged properties has not been done as Fire personnel were engaged in extinguishing the fire at the time of filing the report.
The exact reason of the fire has not been ascertained, but the locals suspected that it might be caused by short-circuit in electrical connections.
