New Delhi: It was diplomacy with a difference as Narendra Modi called on visiting Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday.
The Indian PM accompanied Kishida to Buddha Jayanti Park, where the two leaders bonded over Indian delicacies and refreshing drinks.
The Japanese PM relished golgappas as Modi gave him company.
The two leaders held discussions sitting on the park’s bench in between enjoying lassi in kulhads (mud cups).
Modi and Kishida also spoke as they walked in the park after praying and showering flowers at the Bal Bodhi Tree.

PM Kishida, who arrived this morning on a 2-day visit to India, also held a meeting with Modi at Hyderabad House.
Modi suggested to Kishida one of the areas of strong cooperation between India and Japan could be co-innovation, co-design, co-creation in the defence manufacturing sector.
Kishida invited Modi to the G7 leaders meeting, scheduled to be held in Hiroshima in May.
