New Delhi: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat used his Vijayadashami speech on Wednesday to deliver a hard-hitting message that spanned terror, trade and turbulence in the neighbourhood, warning that enemies operate both inside and outside India and calling for self-reliance as the nation’s shield.
On the Pahalgam massacre, where 26 Indians were gunned down, Bhagwat said: “Terrorists from across the border killed 26 Indians after asking their religion…With complete preparations, our government and armed forces gave a befitting reply.”

He declared the aftermath revealed India’s real allies: “The role played by various nations after this incident … revealed our true friends.”

Taking aim at Washington, he hit out at new American trade duties: “The new tariff policy implemented by the US was done keeping in mind the interest of their own. But everyone is affected by them … No country can survive in isolation.”
Bhagwat urged that India must never let dependence turn into weakness: “We need to rely on swadeshi and focus on self-reliance … Yet strive to maintain diplomatic relations with all our friendly nations.”
Warning that regime shifts in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal were part of wider destabilising currents, Bhagwat cautioned: “The forces wanting to create such disturbances in Bharat are active inside as well as outside our country.”
From terror to tariffs, the RSS chief’s Vijayadashami message carried a common refrain — India must stand united, vigilant and self-reliant as it faces a world in flux.
