Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed one of the most violent thunderstorms and lighting on Thursday night. It was accompanied with heavy rainfall. An alert for thunderstorms was issued in several parts of the city.
The sudden downpour took many by surprise. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had only issued a ‘yellow’ alert for light to moderate rainfall in the city, according to reports.
Several users on X shared visuals of the thunderstorms. They expressed their concerns about the sudden change in weather.

“Nature’s fury on full display in Mumbai tonight! ⚡️⛈️ The city lit up by a powerful thunderstorm—Mother Nature never fails to amaze,” one user posted along with a video of the storm.
“Mumbai rains are something else. They can be magical and mesmerizing, turning the city into a lush, vibrant place. However, the heavy downpours can also lead to severe flooding and disrupt daily life. The city’s spirit is indomitable, though, and people find ways to navigate through the chaos. It’s truly a love-hate relationship with the monsoon,” an user wrote on social media. Waterlogging was reported in several areas.
