Bhubaneswar: Arun Patnaik, who for quite some time is being speculated by a section of the media as BJD president Naveen Patnaik’s heir apparent, recently walked down the aisle at Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Arun, a Delhi-based entrepreneur, is grandson of legendary leader Biju Patnaik. He is the son of Naveen’s elder brother and businessman Prem Patnaik and his second wife.
Prem’s daughter from his first wife, Gayatri Patnaik, shared pictures of the wedding on her Instagram handle and wrote, “There is no joy like a sibling getting married.” She also shared a video of the newly-wed couple walking amid showers of petals and wrote: “Arun and Nadia”.
Gayatri is director of Beacon Press.
In 2019, it was speculated that Naveen contesting Assembly elections from two seats for the first time was a well-calibrated move to pave the way for his nephew’s entry into politics. However, Arun continued to stay away from politics. Following the BJD’s rout in the recently-concluded elections, he has again become a talking point as Naveen’s possible successor in the regional party.
