Jaipur: After Germany and United States, India had its own share of a speeding car ramming into a crowd. Intentions may be different, but in Jaipur the residents witnessed a New Orleans rerun. According to reports, a SUV driven by a police officer’s son rammed into a crowd in Jaipur on Thursday. At least two people—an elderly man and a child— were injured in the incident.
The incident took place when members of the Sikh community were participating in a kirtan when the speeding Mahindra Thar struck the gathering in Jaipur’S Adarsh Nagar area, reported the India Today.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment.
Following the crash, an irate mob vandalized the SUV, which was carrying four people. Three of them managed to flee the scene. The driver, who is reportedly a teen and the son of a police constable, remained at the spot.
Police have seized the car and arrested the teen driver. Probe is on. The sikh community has demanded strict action against the driver.
