Chennai: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited a local vegetable market in Chennai during her day-long visit to the city on Saturday.
In a viral video shared by her office, Sitharaman is seen buying vegetables in Chennai’s Mylapore market and interacting with vendors and buyers. The Finance Minister is seen carefully choosing what to buy.
Reacting to the video, many netizens praised her simplicity while others said that she might now realise the inflation hurting common people.
“During her day-long visit to Chennai, @nsitharaman made a halt at Mylapore market where she interacted with the vendors and local residents and also purchased vegetables,” the Finance Minister’s office said in a tweet.
