Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s young mass seems to have taken over the entertainment genre with Prakruti Mishra having been on the national television, in a daily soap, and Supriya Roy making a mark in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’. And now, joining the bandwagon is Ollywood actor Sambhabana Mohanty.
She is playing the lead ‘Poorva’ in daily soap ‘Raja Beta’, to be aired on Zee TV, from Tuesday. She has been cast opposite Rrahul Sudhir, who plays Vedant, an adopted son, in the story. The show tells the story of an adopted child and his relationship with other family members.
Sambhabana, in an interview with the Telly Talk, said their characters are completely opposite to each other. “While Vedant is sorted, smart, sophisticated and reserved, my character is loud, childlike, very out there and yet logical,” she added.
The work, she said, is hectic. “The whole team is working hard and it does get hectic at a point. We love it anyway,” she said.
Rrahul, who comes from a web series background, said it is very different working in both genres. “In a web series, the working hours and episodes are limited but TV shows are very long. So, the style of working is definitely different,” he added.
Sambhabana, daughter of popular album director Jaya Prakash Mohanty and veteran actor Snigdha Mohanty, made her debut in Ollywood with the film ‘Mun Raja Tu Rani’, in 2013, opposite Arindam Roy. The actor was cast in a music video ‘Saajna’, opposite Sambeet Acharya, that became a hit. She is an alumnus of the Ravenshaw College, Cuttack.
