Bhubaneswar: With traditional and natural methods gaining grounds for a healthy lifestyle and known faces championing for their cause, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro has batted for mud bath.
Patro, who himself is a fan of mud bath, spoke on its benefits and methods in a video release. Seen with his entire body covered with mud, the Speaker said for mud bath, one should use the soil from under any big tree like banyan.
The soil under the tree should not have been used for any type of cultivation in order to ensure that no chemical like pesticide and fertiliser goes into skin during the mud bath, he advised.

After making the mud from the soil with clean and pure water, one should apply it all over the body in the morning and sit under the sun for at least 10 minutes. After the mud dries up, it can be cleaned with water and then one can go for bath after having a massage with oil.
On the benefits of the mud bath, Patro said the natural ingredients of the soil which help a massive tree stand strongly can have medicinal effects on human body. Besides cleansing the skin pores and giving it a natural glow, the mud drains out the toxic materials.
In addition to this, the body absorbs Vitamin D from the sunray through the mud, the Speaker said.
