Nabarangpur: Panic gripped Umerkote in Odisha’s Nabaranpur after some miscreants opened fire on a businessman, Sanjeev Subudhi, at Jharigaon road on Friday evening.
According to sources, three bike-borne youths fired on Sanjeev around 9.30 pm. He fell unconscious after a bullet struck him in the waist.
The businessman was rushed to the local hospital and then to the district headquarters hospital. He was later shifted to Koraput, where he is undergoing treatment.
The reason behind the firing incident is not known.
Meanwhile, Umerkote police have begun investigation on the basis of CCTV footage collected from the crime spot. A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
