Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi disbursed the first instalment of Rs 5,000 under Subhadra Yojana in the third phase of the cash transfer scheme of the Odisha government aimed at empowering women through financial support, during a special programme held at Sundargarh on Sunday.
The CM said the amount has been deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries and they can check their mobile phones for alerts. Over 20 lakh beneficiaries, including Anganwadi workers, received the amount in the third phase, taking the total women covered under the scheme so far to 80 lakh.
Union Minister Jual Oram, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Panchayatiraj & Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik were present on the occasion.
On Saturday, Parida said that all Anganwadi workers and 22% of rejected applicants will received the money in the third phase.
The state government had earlier disbursed Rs 5,000 each to about 60 lakh beneficiaries in two phases. While around 25 lakh women received the money in the first phase when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on September 17, the amount was credited to bank accounts of beneficiaries in the second phase on October 9. The fourth and final phase of the first instalment is likely to be released by the end of December, covering over 1 crore women in total, after physical verification and corrections of discrepancies in other applications.
Under the scheme, all eligible beneficiaries aged 21 to 60 years will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29. Beneficiaries will get Rs 10,000 annually in two equal instalments, credited directly to their Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-linked bank accounts.
