[Watch] Odisha CM Visits Hospital In Bhubaneswar To Inquire About Naba Das Condition

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar and inquired about the condition  of Health Minster Naba Kishore Das, who was admitted there after being shot at by a policeman in Brajarajnagar on Sunday.

The Chief Minister visited the hospital soon after Naba Das was airlifted from Jharsuguda and taken there in a critical condition. He inquired about the health condition of Das and held discussion with the doctors regarding the line of treatment, sources said.

Secretary to CM (5T) V K Pandian and Health Secretary Shalini Pandit were also present at the hospital.

Das was airlifted to Bhubaneswar from Jharsuguda with an accompanying medical team of specialists and life support equipment

The Health Minister, whose condition is critical, is presently in Apollo Hospital operation theatre. A team of the best specialists in the state, drawn from Apollo Hospital, SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and Capital Hospital are attending to him, official sources said.

Das was critically injured after being shot at by a police personnel at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district.

The Chief Minister had earlier condemned the attack on the health minister and ordered a crime branch probe into the firing incident. “I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery,” he said.

“Crime branch has been directed to take up the investigation of the case . Senior officers of crime branch have been asked to go to the spot,” the Chief Minister said.

The Health Minister was shot at near Gandhi Chhak at Brajarajnagar as he stepped out of the car to attend an official programme and his supporters were garlanding him. A policeman reportedly fired at least four to five rounds of bullets and a bullet hit him in his chest. The minister collapsed immediately after the incident. A local youth and a police officer also sustained bullet injuries.
