Cuttack: As the hockey fever has gripped Odisha, an artisan from Cuttack city has made a replica of the Hockey World Cup by using only scrap materials and discarded vehicle parts.
The artisan, Sanjib Biswal, has made the trophy all by himself for which he has spent around Rs 13K from his own savings.
It took him almost a week to finish the replica of the world cup weighing about 20kg by using cycle chains, cycle cranksets, brake drums, and locks.
Notably, the trophy will be put on display for the public at the Judicial Academy Gandhi Park in Cuttack on Sunday.
Besides, Biswal has also requested the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials to display it outside the stadium for the public during the Hockey World Cup inauguration ceremony in Barabati Stadium.
He also made a metal replica of a cellular camera depicting the concept that the world cup trophy is the current focus of all cameras now.
“I thought of making the Hockey World Cup with scrap metals to pump up the excitement and enthusiasm among the public ahead of the Hockey World Cup. I have made it completely out of scrap and discarded metals.” Sanjib Biswal said.
