Bhubaneswar: Battling all odds, Aarti Samal of Titlagarh in Odisha’s Balangir district bagged the gold medal for excelling in the chemistry post-graduation course at IIT Indore. Born in a remote village, Aarti had to face several struggles to make it to the IIT.
“For some years, my family faced a financial crisis. It was difficult for me to pursue my education. But, with the help of my brother, I was able to continue my studies,” she said.
She has been focused on her studies since childhood. “She would study hard day and night. Her hard work has paid dividends. She has become an example for women of the Kulta community,” said her father, Bighnaraj Samal, who is a retired CRPF jawan.
