Bhubaneswar: Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Shalini Pandit on Thursday asked the people of Odisha with COVID-19 symptoms not to visit hospitals.

She said that people, who have returned to Odisha from abroad or other states, should stay in home quarantine for 14 days and interact with family members from a distance of 1 metre.

“After this period, they should self monitor their health. If someone is suffering from cold, cough, fever or facing respiratory problems, he/she is advised not to go for health check-up to nearest hospital and instead dial 104,” she said.

Pandit said the doctors are available at 104 and they can be consulted over phone. “They would prescribe medicines or decided on COVID-19 test if required. And accordingly a government vehicle will pick the patient and take him/her to the hospital or testing centre,” she said.

Those who test negative have to complete the self-isolation period, she said.

If someone tests positive, they will admitted to COVID-19 hospitals or wards of government hospitals. “They will discharged once cured,” she added.
