[Watch] Odisha’s Navdeep Kaur To Represent India At Mrs World 2021; Know Her Concept Of Beauty

Bhubaneswar: Hailing from a small town of Kansbahal near Odisha’s Steel City  Rourkela, Navdeep Kaur is making it big in the world of beauty and fashion.

An assistant professor by profession, Navdeep was crowned Mrs India World 2021. And, now she has her eyes set on Mrs World. She will be representing India at the international beauty pageant, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, later in January 2022.

Mother of a six-year-old, Navdeep had never dreamt of winning a beauty pageant. But—as she puts it— destiny had its plans set for her. After pursuing computer science engineering and a masters in business administration, Navdeep had worked as an assistant manager in a bank and an assistant professor prior to her stint at the beauty pageant.

Living in a small town, her resources were limited. But, she challenged herself in all possible ways to achieve success at the beauty pageant. For the next big challenge, she is working on her body language, question and answer round, make-up skills and the art of slaying the ramp wearing the six inches heels. “I have been one of those girls next door. This was never my profession. So, I am leaving no stones unturned, when it comes to the preparation. I am being groomed under the guidance of international trainers with over 20 years of experience,” she said.

By participating in the world beauty pageant, she wants to make a difference in society. “When we talk of Indian married women in our society, it is difficult for them to move out of their professional set-up or houses. But, I was blessed to have supportive families. I want to leave a mark so that my achievements inspire at least one woman each day. If women start believing in themselves by looking at my journey, that would be an achievement,” says Navdeep, who has been married for over seven years and living in a joint family.

Besides these roles, Navdeep has associated herself with a fair share of social work as well. She has been the goodwill ambassador of Ladies Circle India. She has adopted 1000 girl children and their education as a member of a club, which focuses on educating one lakh girl children by 2025. She also dedicates five days a month to educating autistic kids. Also, she takes up personality development classes for rural kids for free.

External beauty makes a mark only for a few seconds, believes Navdeep. “For beautiful eyes, look for kindness. For beautiful hair, let your kid run his or her fingers through the strands. For a slim figure, please share your food with the hungry,” said Navdeep as she explained the concept of beauty to her child.
