Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace gymnast Tapan Mohanty secured a spot in the Floor Exercise Finals at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.
The 22-year-old Mohanty aggregated a total score of 12.600 to qualify in eighth place.

Mohanty, who earlier represented the country in the 2023 Asian Games at Hangzhou and FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup in 2024 (Cairo), will compete for a medal with seven other finalists, including Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi who topped the qualifying round with a score of 13.833.
Jatin Kumar Kanojiya, the other Indian in the fray, missed out after scoring 11.333 to finish 12th.
