Karachi: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane Airbus 320 reportedly crashed near Karachi Airport on Friday.
Confirming the crash, PIA spokesperson Abdul Sattar said that the flight was carrying 107 passengers and flying from Lahore to Jinnah International Airport, Pakistan’s busiest airport.
It crashed just a minute before its landing, according to reports.
Further details of any casualty are still awaited.
A Pakistani news channels showed smoke billowing from houses as the crash happened in a residential area, Jinnah Garden, near the airport. The Pak Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Rangers are at the crash site to assist in the relief and rescue operation.
